ABOUT THE INSTALLATION
In 2023, RxART embarked on a second project with artist Ann Craven, this time at the Nappi Wellness Institute, where her serene yet energetic bird imagery now adorns a previously blank wall facing the Family Medicine Department’s reception desk and waiting area. Craven is known for her portrayals of natural subjects, particularly birds, flowers, and the moon, rendered in vibrant colors. At the Institute, her animated pink, red, and yellow brush strokes enliven three side-by-side birds. They are alert and full of movement, but simultaneously, their gentle perches and abstract floral backdrop infuse a sense of calm into the composition and the surrounding space.
“It is such a pleasure and honor to help create a safe, healing space for the Nappi Wellness Institute,” said Craven. “I truly believe in the transformative power of art, and can think of no one who would benefit from or cherish it more than children.”
This project was made possible through the generous support of ATWATER and Ducati North America.
ABOUT THE HOSPITAL
The Nappi Wellness Institute consolidates many essential medical services in one location to enhance access to care, streamline patient services, and promote better collaboration and coordination among providers. In addition to primary and specialty healthcare, the institute offers integrated social work services, nutrition counseling, palliative care, and behavioral health care.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Ann Craven (b. 1967, Boston, MA) is known for her portrayals of natural subjects rendered in bright, familiar colors. Her work plays with the notion of temporality in an almost playful way, lacking excessive gravitas and instead opening itself up to spontaneity. She lives and works between New York City and Maine.
Solo exhibitions include Hannah Hoffman Gallery, Los Angeles, CA; Karma Gallery, New York, NY; and the Center for Maine Contemporary Art, Rockland, ME. Her work can also be found in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY; the New Museum, New York, NY; and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, IL. Craven is represented by Karma Gallery.
