ABOUT THE INSTALLATION

ABOUT THE INSTALLATION

In 2018, RxART collaborated with Daniel Heidkamp to install two murals in the waiting room and pediatric ultrasound room of the NYU Langone Radiology Department. Titled Spire Inspire and Neon Blue respectively, both murals vividly evoked the New York City skyline and connected the two rooms with a shared urban theme. Responding to the hospital’s wishes, Heidkamp designed these murals with compositions that did not, on the one hand, overwhelm the small spaces in which they were installed, but on the other, still provided engaging and distracting visual experiences for the facility’s patients.

This project was made possible through the generous support of Lexus.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Daniel Heidkamp (b. 1980, Wakefield, MA) uses both observation and memory as part of his process to construct scenes from everyday life and his travels—urban environments, beaches, clearings, and interior spaces—turning the ordinary into the extraordinary. Heidkamp lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.

His work was included in Talking Pictures, a group exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and his work from this exhibition is now included in the Met’s permanent collection. Heidkamp is represented by Half Moon Gallery and Loyal Gallery.
