ABOUT THE INSTALLATION
In 2017, RxART installed five images from Ed Ruscha’s iconic Mountain Prints series at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and along a major corridor that leads to the blood donor center, the outpatient lab, and the surgery waiting room. As the title of the series suggests, these images depict colorful mountain peaks that are overlaid with Ruscha’s signature texts and expressions. In the context of the pediatric hospital, Ruscha’s work takes on new meaning: together the images provide inspiration and comfort to the children and their families who receive treatment in this facility.
This project was made possible by the generous support of Betsee Isenberg and Tom Atencio with additional support provided by Gagosian, Carole and Robert Kopple, and the RxART 10 in 2 Campaign.
