ABOUT THE INSTALLATION
Completed in early 2024, RxART collaborated with artist Harold Ancart on a project for Primary Children’s Hospital in Lehi, UT, part of the extensive Intermountain Health System. To create this large-scale, site-specific installation, Ancart’s process began in his Brooklyn studio, where the artist hand-painted dozens of fish species swimming through a blue sky—one strikingly similar to the wide-open skies of the American West. Ancart’s painting was then transposed onto a medically approved material, making the 70-foot mural ready for installation in this newly built hospital. The completed mural now brightens the heart of the hospital near the main lobby and can be found in front of the education center, cafe, and pharmacy.
This project was made possible with generous support of TJ Parker, Betsee Isenberg, Gagosian, Gould Art Advisory, and William E. Weiss Foundation.
ABOUT THE HOSPITAL
Primary Children’s Hospital is a not-for-profit, free-standing children’s hospital providing quality healthcare for children with complex illnesses and injuries from across the United States. The Miller Family Campus features five floors and 66 beds, and provides trauma and emergency services, behavioral health, intensive care, and surgical and clinic services not available elsewhere in Utah County.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Harold Ancart (b. 1980, Brussels, Belgium) is drawn to subjects that naturally invite contemplation, such as the horizon seen in the desert or through trees, and bodies of water. Ancart often uses these motifs to expand the language of painting. He graduated with an MFA from École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Visuels de La Cambre in Brussels. He lives and works in New York, NY.
Ancart’s work is included in the collections of international institutions including the Hirshhorn Museum, Washington, D.C.; Fondation Beyeler, Basel; the Menil Collection, Houston, TX; the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, CA; and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, NY; among others. Ancart is represented by Gagosian Gallery.
