ABOUT THE INSTALLATION

ABOUT THE INSTALLATION

In 2023, RxART and Julia Chiang came together to transform the waiting area of the Nappi Wellness Institute’s Upstate Pediatric and Adolescent Clinic (UPAC). In response to the commission, Chiang considered the context of the wall and painted a composition incorporating colors and textures the artist felt would both complement and enhance the surrounding space of the clinic. The final result is a seemingly effortless mural in which swaths of blues and purples are offset by constellations of circles, brushstrokes, and elliptical shapes. Abstract and otherworldly, the mural adds a calming, artistic element to an otherwise sterile healthcare setting.

This project was made possible through the generous support of J.Crew.
