BETWEEN THE LINES COLORING BOOK

RxART’s farthest-reaching project is the publication of Between the Lines: An RxART Coloring Book by Contemporary Artists. The most recent edition, Volume 10, is a compilation of "greatest hits" from throughout the RxART coloring book series, produced in celebration of RxART's 25th Anniversary. It features a vibrant cover and sticker spread designed by Ann Craven and drawings by 48 other extraordinary established artists, including Joel Mesler, Jeffrey Gibson, Rashid Johnson, Hayal Pozanti, and Anna Weyant, among others.
RxART donates the majority of each coloring book edition to pediatric patients, their families, and providers in hospitals nationwide. Since 2005, more than 150,000 coloring books have been donated and distributed in over 55 hospitals. A small number of books are sold on RxART’s website and in specialty retailers to raise funds supporting RxART’s mission.
Volume 10 of the RxART Coloring Book is generously sponsored by the Guess? Foundation.
ACCESSIBLE AND COLLABORATIVE ART-MAKING
RxART’s main efforts focus on improving the patient experience through large-scale art installations designed to enhance the built healthcare environment. As a complementary initiative, our widely distributed, free coloring books provide recipients with opportunities for accessible and collaborative art-making, activities that have many documented and positive benefits on health outcomes. Between the Lines is for everyone—patients, their families, and providers—and brings unique designs by some of today’s most celebrated artists into the hands of community members everywhere.
The coloring books that were generously provided to St. Mary's Kids by RxART have been received with great enthusiasm and positivity by our children and staff. Children with special needs can encounter artistic expression to free their imaginations from the constraints imposed by physical limitations thereby improving their quality of life. We are so pleased to be a part of this wonderful project with RxART.

Coloring with Rashid and Julius
During the COVID-19 pandemic, RxART made coloring book drawings and pages available for free online. Collaborating artists like Rashid Johnson joined the fun with at-home coloring videos. Here Johnson enjoys a coloring session and chat about RxART’s mission with his son Julius.
